Abstract
The present work approaches the interrelation that is generated between the formal learning within the process of formation of the jazz musician and the informal learning, which is acquired by the experience of playing with musicians with greater trajectory. It includes testimonies of professional jazz musicians of several generations and constitutes a reflection on the importance of understanding that formal and informal learning converge in the formation of a jazz musician today.
