Graduate Follow-up and Analysis of Factors Influencing Labor Market Insertion as a Basis for Restructuring the Petroleum Engineering Program at the Instituto Tecnológico de Cerro Azul

This study examines how Petroleum Engineering graduates from the Instituto Tecnológico de Cerro Azul (ITCA) transition into the job market. The main objective is to assess whether the academic program aligns with the current demands of the oil industry. Through surveys conducted with graduates, data was gathered on the key skills and competencies required in their profession, as well as areas where their education could be improved. The findings indicate a generally positive perception of the academic preparation received. However, the importance of strengthening professional practice, technical English, and industry connections is emphasized. Additionally, expanding the curriculum to include more content on refining processes and sustainability is suggested, as this could increase job opportunities for future graduates. Adjusting the program in these areas would help professionals become more competitive and better prepared to face the challenges of this crucial sector in Mexico.
