The journal Interconectando Saberes, in accordance with the ethical, humanistic, and social responsibility principles promoted by the Universidad Veracruzana, recognizes that generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools constitute emerging technologies with the potential to support academic, editorial, and scientific communication processes.
Nevertheless, their use must be conducted under principles of transparency, intellectual honesty, critical thinking, responsibility, academic integrity, and research ethics.
General Principles
The use of Artificial Intelligence tools does not replace the intellectual, ethical, and academic responsibility of authors, reviewers, or members of the editorial team.
Authors are fully responsible for the content submitted to the journal, including the accuracy of information, originality of the manuscript, proper citation of sources, and compliance with ethical and academic principles.
Artificial Intelligence tools may not be recognized as authors of manuscripts, as they lack legal, ethical, and academic responsibility for generated content.
Permitted Use of AI Tools
The journal allows the responsible and limited use of Artificial Intelligence tools solely as complementary support in activities such as:
Spelling and grammar correction
Writing and style improvement
Language translation
Preliminary organization of ideas
Technical assistance for programming or exploratory analysis
Generation of clearly identified complementary visual materials
The use of AI must remain under direct human supervision and may not replace critical analysis, academic interpretation, or the original development of scientific or humanistic work.
Prohibited Uses
Generating complete manuscripts without substantial intervention by the authors.
Fabricating, altering, or manipulating data, images, results, or evidence.
Producing false citations, references, or nonexistent sources.
Simulating academic peer-review processes.
Concealing the significant use of AI tools during manuscript preparation.
Mandatory Disclosure of AI Use
Authors must explicitly disclose the use of Artificial Intelligence tools whenever these have been used in a significant manner during manuscript preparation.
The disclosure must include:
- Name of the tool used.
- Version or system employed, when possible.
- Purpose of use.
- Scope of AI participation.
Example of disclosure:
“During the preparation of this manuscript, a generative Artificial Intelligence tool was used solely to support language editing and grammatical improvement. The authors reviewed, validated, and assumed full responsibility for the final content of the document.”
Use of AI in the Peer-Review Process
Reviewers must guarantee the confidentiality of manuscripts submitted for evaluation.
Uploading complete or partial manuscripts, or confidential information, to public Artificial Intelligence platforms is not permitted without the express authorization of the journal.
Editorial Verification
The journal may implement review and verification mechanisms regarding the possible use of Artificial Intelligence tools in submitted manuscripts.
When undeclared, misleading, or inappropriate use is detected, the editorial team may request clarifications, require corrections, reject the manuscript, or apply the corresponding editorial and ethical measures.
This policy is aligned with the institutional principles promoted by the Universidad Veracruzana regarding the ethical, conscious, and responsible use of Generative Artificial Intelligence.
